Construction of two storey multipurpose accommodation block with 5 classrooms including Home Economics Classroom, new Toilet facilities, plant room and circulation area to ground floor, and bedrooms with en-suite facilities.
It was built using traditional masonry construction with concrete floors but with external render and timber cladding to complement the backdrop of a wooded area of the school site in which the new building is situated. A grey slate roof sets off the cladding.
Internally, the bedrooms have adjoining shower suites with some catering for DDA requirements and a passenger lift is provided for first floor access. A common room is included together with a live in flat for the staff.
This was a sloped site requiring retaining walls and stepped foundations. The project was completed in 32 weeks and the client commented that despite a small number of variations it met his own programme and budget.
